No Packers cheerleaders for Super Bowl
GREEN BAY - Some say it wouldn't be a football game at Cowboys Stadium without cheerleaders, but that is exactly what it will be on Super Bowl Sunday.
“We put a lot of work and effort into the season so to hear we couldn't travel with them to the Super Bowl, it was pretty devastating,” said Gabrielle Engel, a junior on UW-Green Bay’s cheer squad.
The Packers have UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert cheer squads at Lambeau home games. The team says while it appreciates what they bring to the Lambeau Field experience, they are not part of the road plan.
No pom-poms. No ultra-bright smiles. No revealing outfits. No big hair. No sexy gyrations. No gratuitous camera shots.
That's right, for the first time in Super Bowl history there won't be any cheerleaders on the sidelines.
Considering that Sunday's game will be played in Texas, the very place where famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders strut their stuff, this all seems, well, blasphemous.
